Macario Fernández, CEO of LatemAluminium, and Ignacio García-Conde, CEO of Rioglass Solar, have signed in Villabrázaro (Zamora) this contract that strengthens the commitment of both companies to clean and renewable energies.

March 17, 2022.- Macario Fernández, CEO of LatemAluminium, has signed this morning in Villabrázaro (Zamora) together with Ignacio García-Conde, CEO of Rioglass Solar, the contract through which LatemAluminium boosts its environmental commitment through photovoltaic self-consumption in its plants in Villadangos del Páramos (León) and in the aforementioned Zamoran locality of Villabrázaro. Both companies have emphasized the importance of self-consumption in the industry and how this practice is going to become a priority for the entire sector in Spain. The signing of this contract aims, as highlighted by Macario Fernández, at the acquisition of “electricity generated by Rioglass Solar, through the installation of photovoltaic systems that will be distributed on the roofs.” In this regard, the CEO of LatemAluminium has stressed that “we are clear about our commitment to green energies in all phases of our production process and we continue to incorporate this technology that is essential for the decarbonization of the industry in Spain.”

On the other hand, from Rioglass Solar, its CEO, Ignacio María-García Conde, has expressed his “satisfaction” for being part of a “project that is of utmost importance throughout Spain regarding the production of recycled aluminum. We consider it a priority at the moment to be able to contribute to these industrial initiatives that will bring so much interest and so many benefits to the economy of our country as a whole.” Thus, the CEO of Rioglass Solar has explained that the company he leads “has extensive experience in the generation and sale of energy from renewable sources focused on offering self-consumption solutions for industries through the signing of energy sale contracts that adapt to the needs of our clients.

Circular economy

Both from LatemAluminium and from Rioglass Solar, it has been emphasized that “the project of LatemAluminium is a pioneering one in the field of green aluminum in Spain” and that one of its hallmarks is “circularity,” an aspect that fully aligns with the change in the production model being driven by the European Union and which will undoubtedly increase the competitiveness of Spanish companies in an environment where corporate adaptation to change is fundamental.
