Rioglass is now manufacturing green mirrors in Mieres, Asturias.

Rioglass Solar already manufactures solar mirrors at its factory in Mieres, Asturias, using locally generated renewable electricity. The installation of a 100 kWp photovoltaic self-consumption system attached to the mirror production plant has been carried out by an in-house team of technicians, using aluminum profiles manufactured by Alusín Solar also in Asturias, reducing the carbon footprint of the installation.

In the initial manufacturing stage, photovoltaic electricity will be used to heat flat glass to be curved and tempered in an electric furnace. In a later phase, the curved glass will be mirrored in a line that only consumes electricity.

The mirrors for solar thermal power plants being manufactured by Rioglass Solar are the first to be made using renewable electricity from a photovoltaic self-consumption plant.

Rioglass Solar makes its experience and knowledge available to the industrial sector by providing solar thermal and photovoltaic solutions to reduce energy consumption from the grid or fossil sources.
